Mumbai: Dheeraj Wadhawan, the non-executive director of Dewan Housing Finance Corporation(DHFL) has joined the Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigations into the property dealing of late gangster, Iqbal Memon alias Iqbal Mirchi and is currently being questioned.

Sources say Wadhawan who was admitted at a city hospital was brought to the agency’s Ballard Pier office around 1pm.

Last month, ED had carried out raids at eight locations including DHFL headquarters in connection with the Rs 2,186 crore loan given by the NBFC to Sunblink Real Estate, a company under probe for its dealing with erstwhile gangster Iqbal Memon alias Iqbal Mirchi.

Earlier based on ED’s request, a look out circular (LoC) has been opened against, Wadhawan. The company has however denied a LoC being issued by ED.

“Earlier this year, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has issued LoCs against directors or promoters of certain corporate houses, Wadhawan was one of them but there is no fresh LoC issued against him,” said a company source.
