MUMBAI: Batman series director and two-time Emmy Award winner Nelson Recinos has joined hands with Kahaani world, the Indo-Canadian animation incubator and producer of kids brands, for a $12-15-million co-production titled Game Access. This is Kahani Worlds second theatrical animation co-production, the first being Secrets of the Seven Sounds, a co-production with Virgin Comics, slated for release in early 2009.

Our first animation theatrical co-production is built for a Hollywood release while Game Access has been conceptualised keeping the Indian audience in mind. We will be getting into production in April and the trailers should be out by October 2008. We are aiming for a 2010 release in India, said Biren Ghose, Kahani World founder & CEO.

The story revolves around two middle school girls, one a nerd but a hardcore gamer while the other is Ms Popular. They find themselves in the finals of a gaming tournament.

The theme takes the audience through a battle which starts in the real world and moves into the virtual world. The film will be dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and English to ensure eyeballs across the country.

Mr Ghose told ET that the plan is to talk to Indian broadcasters and look at a long-running animation series on the same theme. Accel Animation, the IT company based down south, will be the studio producer for the film.
