Hennes & Mauritz has announced Yanira Ramirez as the new country sales manager, four months after its India head Janne Einola quit the company.

Ramirez, an 18-year H&M veteran, has previously worked as the global sales manager for H&M’s fashion brand &Other Stories.

“Yanira takes over as H&M India’s new country sales manager and will be based out of H&M India’s head office in New Delhi,” the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

H&M first head of India Einola had quit the company five years after he launched the world’s second largest fashion brand in the country.

A qualified lawyer, Ramirez joined H&M 18 years ago. Originally from Mexico, she started her retail career with H&M in the United Kingdom as a store sales adviser and then moved on to become an area manager. She also served as the country HR head for H&M in the United Kingdom and then joined the global sales and operations HR team in Sweden, the company said in the statement.

Ramirez takes over the helm at its India operations at a challenging time when fashion and lifestyle retailers in India including H&M are battling low sales due to an unprecedented pandemic that has severely hurt fashion brands.
