Flying car may soon be a reality
No longer a dream
The dream of a flying car could soon be a reality as Japan's SkyDrive Inc has successfully conducted a test flight with one person aboard, reported AP.
What looked like a motorcycle with propellers, the contraption lifted in the air several feet off the ground and hovered in the air for sometime.
The machine as of now flies for just a few minutes but if that were to improve then this might be a major headway and it could then be exported to other markets as well.
The project faces many challenges like battery sizes, air traffic control and infrastructural challenges, the AP report said. What started out modestly in 2012 is now getting off the ground. The project is funded by many top Japanese firms.
Milestone in flying
Comparisons have been made with days when the aviation industry and automobile industry were at their nascent stages. The Japanese government is bullish about the potential of the project in connecting remote destinations and delivering relief in disastar-hit areas.
