Oppo launches Reno 5 Pro 5G at Rs 35,990 in India, comes with 12 GB RAM, 64 MP camera

The sleek smartphone comes with 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging feature.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo on Monday unveiled its new device - Reno 5 Pro 5G in India. With the punch hole curved display, the sleek smartphone comes with 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging feature. To give you the much needed boost and provide a smooth functioning, Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G is packed with 12GB of RAM.

Before its big launch in India, the tech giant debuted the device in China.

Priced at Rs. 35,990, Reno 5 Pro 5G flashes a quad rear camera set-up with in-display fingerprint scanner.


Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the much-awaited launch went virtual and was live streamed on Oppo's YouTube channel. The event began with the Oppo's chief marketing officer Damyant Khanoria welcoming all. "This is just the beginning. The world will rediscover life in 2021 and we are looking forward to surprise and delight you with path breaking innovations and designs," he said.

Heavy Camera Set-Up

To make the picture capturing experience surreal and add that extra definition to photographs and videos, the smartphone comes with a 64 MP primary camera, an 8 MP ultrawide sensor, 2 MP depth and 2 MP macro lenses. For flawless selfies, Reno 5 Pro 5G flaunts a 32-megapixel camera in the front.

At the launch event, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali joined in to give an insight on the smartphone's impressing camera quality and features. "As a filmmaker and director, when I look at anything at all, I always imagine a certain shot. It's like looking at life through the lens of a camera," the 'Tamasha' director said, adding "camera is the eye through which we look at things clearly and also in a certain way."

The director then went ahead to showcase a few shots he captured on the new Oppo Reno 5 Pro.

Sleek and Stylish Design

Using industry-first, OPPO-exclusive Reno Glow Effect, the tech company has created a natural blue colour for Reno 5 Pro. The shimmery and elegant colour also protects the smartphone from fingerprints and scratches. The new glass process improves the micro structure of the glass to achieve a matte effect which throws extra attention to the sparkling details.

On the front, the 6.5-inch 3D curve display and the extended edges provide borderless immersion, making the smartphone feel lighter and slimmer. Reno 5 Pro is available in two colours - Starry Black and Astral Blue.

Reno 5 Pro 5G comes with ColorOS 11.1 based on Android 11 and is powered by octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC. The tech heavy smartphone offers in-built storage capacity of up to 256GB.

Enco X For Supreme Sound Quality

The tech giant company also unveiled its earbuds, Oppo Enco X which is priced at Rs. 9,990 and will be available in the market from January 22. The dual driver set-up includes 11mm moving coil drivers and 6mm plan diaphragm drivers, with dual-microphone system for noise cancellation.

The earbuds supports USB Type-C for wired charging and Qi standard for wireless charging. The company said Enco X is capable of offering four hours of music playback once fully charged.

The smartphone comes with a 4,350mAh battery and supports 65W SuperVOOC 2.0, the fastest charging technology, which lets you charge Reno 5 Pro 5G to its full capacity in just 30 minutes. Impressively, just 5 minutes of charging gives you 4 hours of video playback.

TCL Technology, a Chinese state-owned multinational company, on Monday launched two budget-friendly phones, the TCL 20 5G and the TCL 20 SE at CES 2021 on Monday. TCL 20 5G, a higher-end model, is priced at EUR 299 (Rs 26,600 approx.) and is available in two colour options - Mist Grey and Placid Blue. While it's already available in Italy, reports suggest it will be rolled out across the world in February.
