Uday Sharma, COO, Spoton Logistics has been eagerly looking forward to travelling again. "I am an avid traveller. Being exposed to new places, people and culture is what gives me a new perspective to living my life both professionally and personally," he says.

Holiday plan
"I am planning to hit the road this Navratri and visit Dandeli - located in the western part of Karnataka and surrounded by natural, historic, and religious landmarks. The mountains, rivers, caves, and the lush landscapes make Dandeli a perfect getaway. Later, I plan to visit Goa or Sri Lanka with my friends," he says.

Pamper pang
"I absolutely miss the immersive experience that a movie theater offers. The pandemic has made me realise how much I enjoyed watching movies on the big screen and what a luxury it seems like today," he says.

Missing thing
"I am aching to meet my mom who lives in Mumbai. I am waiting for the restrictions to open up so I can run up to meet her. It has been six months since I last met her, which has never happened before. I cannot wait to see her again and spend quality time with her," he shares.

Shopping spree
"Dubai is my favourite shopping destination. Honestly, I am not a compulsive shopper except for when it is about watches and shoes. I know for a fact that even when I don’t intend or plan to shop for new watches or shoes, I will still end up buying them. I already have a comprehensive collection of these two and now I intentionally try to not buy more," he says.

Technology time
"We are living in an inextricable era of technology. The pandemic and the resultant lockdown only made us more dependent on it. I bought a pair of headphones during this time so as to remain more focussed and cut down on any distractions while attending calls. Besides that, I actually started using more gadgets in general. I have become used-to using multiple gadgets at the same time. This includes my smartphone, my laptop, and my iPad," he says.

Challenge chance
"I love cooking and I have been cooking for years now, be it trying out new recipes or creating my own. Given the nature of the business that we are in, I was flooded with work but I took time out to cook something or the other for my family. The lockdown gave me an opportunity to improve my cooking skills and experiment with new ingredients and dishes; and I must say I loved every bit of it," he says.

Fitness first
"My fitness routine barely changed during this period. I ensured I went for my walks and jogs as I usually would. I generally do not indulge in specific exercises or fitness gadgets, but I used the iPhone Health app to map my steps, calories burned, etc. I do not generally work towards achieving a specific body type; I try to maintain my weight, and I have been able to do so even while being at home all the time," he says.

Upbeat attitude
"The lockdown brought me closer to my family than ever before. Spending quality time with my wife and kids in turn helped me stay optimistic and driven. Even today, we make sure to spend two hours in the evening from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm together, we could be watching a series, or a show, essentially something that we are all interested in. This is the first year I am actually not watching cricket since the four of us must watch something that we all enjoy. On the sunny side, I truly re-discovered the pleasure of spending time with family," he says.

Look love
"I love experimenting with my looks. Whether it is growing my beard or hair, or cutting them short, or even trying out new styles; I like to keep myself well-groomed. For the first time in my life, I trimmed my entire head four months ago and it felt amazing! Treating yourself to a new look is a total game changer and I highly recommend it to all, especially in times like these. A makeover is always a great pick-me-up," he ends.

“I decided to use this opportunity to improve my physical conditioning. I started cycling (after more than 40 years) inside my gated community from mid-April. I went from seven kilometres per ride to 20 kilometres by the end of June. Recently, I did a 52-kilometre ride to Chikka Tirupathi [on the outskirts of Bengaluru]. Cycling has had a huge impact, not just on my physical conditioning but also my confidence.”

“Startups are quite demanding, so I’ve never been able to work out more than three days a week, even when I trained for the Ironman Triathlon. So, when the lockdown was announced, I decided to challenge myself with a ‘consistency goal’ of accomplishing a workout a day. It began with coordinated workouts on Zoom with my friends and as restrictions eased, I started going for outdoor runs. There were days when there would be so many calls that I’d be seen climbing the building stairs at 10 pm. I now have more than 100 days of workouts under my belt and it has been the biggest stressbuster.”

“During the lockdown, I have managed to master single-leg burpees. It’s important to have a defined schedule and stick to it. I ensure that I block out some time during the day for exercise. I work out at home daily with various bodyweight exercises — I do pushups, burpees and air squats. I love doing CrossFit and high-intensity interval training that combines weightlifting, aerobics, powerlifting and gymnastics.”
