'You're always with us': Apple CEO Tim Cook pays tribute to Steve Jobs, says his memory inspires every day

Apple CEO Tim Cook, on Monday, paid a heartfelt tribute to Apple co-founder Steve Jobs on his 9th death anniversary. Quoting poet and civil rights activist Maya Angelou, Cook shared a photograph of Jobs, writing - “A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.”

"You’re always with us Steve", added Cook. "Your memory connects and inspires us every day," wrote the 59-year-old tech mogul.



Jobs passed away in 2011 after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 56. He was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 49 in 2005. Though he continued to work through his treatment, his last working day as Apple CEO was August 24, 2011. Cook had been working as interim CEO and stepping in place for Jobs but officially took over then.

When Jobs officially resigned as CEO, he told the Apple board that “I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.”

Apple, at its event, also launched a virtual fitness service called Fitness+. With Fitness+, Apple Watch Series 6 will give you personalised fitness and health tips, suggest workouts from fitness trainers and offer programmes designed for beginners and experienced health enthusiasts.
