Rossari Biotech is doubling capacity and that is where some of the issue proceeds will be used. How confident are you that you can fill this capacity within the next one or two years?
Following a Blue Ocean Strategy, we went into areas where there was no competition. We were small, we did not have capital and in our MBA days, we were taught that you can have three plans for business. You can either be a low cost, you can be quality or differentiation. Right from day one, we chose the differentiation path because that is where we could be seen and we could make a place for ourselves and this strategy has been very successful. We would like to continue this strategy of differentiation.

Our basis is intelligent chemistry using that we may customisable solutions which value add to the customer. We do a lot of work on intelligent chemistry. We have a lab in IIT Mumbai. We are probably the only chemical company which has such a centre in IIT and we have 40 scientists working there and we will continue to come up with a lot of solutions. We have more than 2,000 products.


Other companies believe in large capex. We believe in smaller plans, focussing on core chemistry. We have four basic chemistries, enzymes, silicones, acrylic and surfactants. We would like to be along these adjacent chemistries.

Could you tell us a little more about your key focus areas?
In the last two years, our capacity utilisation is more than 90%. The demand is tremendous and there is a focus on health and hygiene. We do not want to go to a cinema hall or marriage party or a club or gym or picnic or vacations or restaurants and the focus is now on health and hygiene and we are in this industry. The industry has a very exciting future and we are very sure that we will fill up the capacities fast.
