East Delhi Elections Results: Gautam Gambhir wins in his electoral debut

Gambhir got over 1.71 lakh votes more than former Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely and the AAP's Atishi, who ended up at the third spot.​​

Cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir has won the East Delhi seat, defeating Congress' Arvinder Singh Lovely by margin of 3.91 lakh votes.

Gambhir got over 1.71 lakh votes more than former Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely and the AAP's Atishi, who ended up at the third spot.

Considered to be one of the least developed areas in the national capital, the seat is was represented by BJP's Maheish Girri.


In the weeks before voting day, Atishi and Gautam Gambhir's traded barbs. Atishi was the advisor to Delhi education minister Manish Sisodia till April 2018 when her appointment was cancelled by an order from the Centre.
