The 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra are expected to play a crucial role in electing the next government in Delhi. In terms of seats, Maharashtra is at the second position after Uttar Pradesh which has 80 seats. In 2014, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) or BJP-Shiv Sena had won 43 seats, the highest for any alliance so far.

The overall political dynamics for the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra present an interesting picture this time with major issues like farmer distress and rising unemployment are expected to reduce the final tally for NDA - but it shouldn't affect the BJP-led alliance much, as it is expected to make substantial gains in West Bengal and Eastern India.
