Actis's CFO Saurabh Jain to join Startup Buddy

Jain a qualified Chartered Accountant and a ISB alumni is been credited to be the first non-UK CFO of the Actis group.

AHMEDABAD: Saurabh Jain quits private equity fund Actis to join Startup Buddy, a solution providers for early-stage business.

Jain worked as group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with Actis, a UK based PE fund having AUM of $8 billion; will take up the role of developing international business mainly foreign PE/VC's fund accounting.

Jain a qualified Chartered Accountant and a ISB alumni is been credited to be the first non-UK CFO of the Actis group; had earlier worked with LG Electronics India, Max India group and Ernst & Young, has extensive experience in funds administration, accounting, investor reporting, strategic planning and budgeting, forecasting, treasury, implementation of business systems, processes and controls.

At Startup Buddy, Jain will be responsible to set up fund accounting vertical. "We plan to explore business model for overseas PE funds as they usually outsource their fund accounting," said Amit Singhal, co-founder, StartupBuddy.

In Western countries, nearly 60% of PE/VCs outsource their fund accounting, while the rest prefers to do it in-house. Fund accounting includes managing client's fund, books of account, investor reporting, investor’s call, distribution and other accounting related finance functions.

Cofounded in 2015, Startup Buddy provides services ranging from incorporation, accounting and taxation to project advisory, legal and intellectual property-related work to startups in India and abroad.

Startup Buddy acquired nearly 120 clients, such as Innerchef, Scoopwhoop, Internshala, Silverpush, Deyor, Gamezop, Coho, QDesq, Mamaearth, Better Butter, Burger Singh, Trupay, Advantage Club, Myadva, Zostel, Renomania, PriceMap, Joolz, Lakshya Digital, Kivaplus, Mockbank, Loanzen, Seenit and Niki.ai.

Currently Startup Buddy, has presence Gurgaon, Mumbai, Rohtak, Jaipur, Delhi, Bangalore and Kannur and Singapore. And soon it would expand its presence in Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Pune and USA (Silicon Valley).
