Amazon India has launched Amazon Academy, a rebranded version of its IIT JEE preparation app JEE Ready that debuted last year, making it the latest entrant to India's burgeoning test-prep segment.

Currently in beta mode, Amazon Academy will help students prepare for competitive entrance exams like the IIT JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) by providing curated learning content, live lectures and assessment material in subjects like Math, Physics and Chemistry, the company said.

Amazon Academy is currently available for free on the web and on Google Play Store.

At launch, Amazon Academy will offer a range of JEE preparatory resources like mock tests, 15,000 questions with hints and detailed step-by-step solutions for practice.

The mock tests will include chapter tests, part tests, and full tests. It will also conduct live All India Mock Tests (AIMT) at scheduled intervals, Amazon said in a statement.

The platform will also help exam aspirants assess their test performance through personalised reports highlighting chapter-wise time and strength analysis as well as compare their performance with other JEE aspirants attempting the test at the same time.

The learning material will be free for the next few months and will also benefit students preparing for other competitive engineering exams like BITSAT, VITEEE, SRMJEEE, and MET, the company said.

“Amazon Academy aims to bring high quality, affordable education to all, starting with those preparing for engineering entrance examinations. Our primary focus has been on content quality, deep learning analytics and student experience,” said Amol Gurwara, Director, Education at Amazon India.

India's online education sector has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the Covid-19 pandemic-induced shutdown in the country, with all major players — Unacademy, Byju’s, Vedantu and Eruditus — witnessing significant growth and attracting large financing rounds at favourable valuations as more learners switched to online classes.
